How To Control Hypertension Using Natural Remedies In Nigeria

Hypertension or high blood pressure is now one of the major ailment that most people both the aged and young suffer today in Nigeria, Africa and globally. Though there has been series of medications which has proved to help reduce the increase in blood pressure, most times, these medications turn out to be a problem when used for a longer period.

Fortunately, there has been also an alternative way to control hypertension with using any form of medication, it isn’t costly neither is it difficult to get. It is simply by using natural foods to control it.

Hypertension comes with many symptoms which include a severe headache, acute malaria (in some patients), nose bleeds and stern anxiety. Having any of these symptoms doesn’t imply that such a person is hypertensive but it’s still possible that he or she may likely be.

Some natural ways of curing it are the use of some Nigerian healthy foods such as:

Garlic and Onions: Garlic has an important quality content of sulfur compound which helps in reducing high blood pressure and so do onions. If a clove of garlic is been eaten persistently on daily basis for up to two weeks it can handle the case of hypertension.

Sweet Potato and African yam: Eat African yam regularly and sweet potatoes but if you wish to fry the sweet potato, make use of olive oil in place of groundnut oil do NOT use any other kind of vegetable oil in your frying.

These two Nigerian foods have a very good content of vitamin B-6 that prevents the blood vessel from getting damaged and also helps to decompose homocysteine which increases the tendency of stroke and heart attack.

Olive oil and Tilapia fish: Olive oil can be found everywhere in Nigeria today and it's not expensive. A hypertensive patient should be consuming olive oil on a daily basis as it contains polyphenols which have many phynolic hydroxyl groups as the tilapia fish contains monosaturated fats that all help to control blood pressure and cholesterol level.

Guava and banana: These are common fruits in Nigeria that play expensive roles in managing blood pressure and cholesterol because they have a good quantity of potassium that contributes positively to the cure and control of hypertension.

The juice from these fruits plays the same role also, as you eat the fruits and drinks the juices the cholesterol and blood level will always come to normal.

Cabbage:  Cabbage provides raw nutritional value; it is very low in fat and cholesterol and contains important amino acid called glutamic acid, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus and potassium, and a source of dietary fibre, vitamin C, vitamin K, vitamin B6, and manganese just like beans which also contains potassium, magnesium and fibre that contributes to the management of high blood pressure.

Medically, hypertension can be cured with the use of certain medications in most Nigerian health clinics today using drugs from these categories; diuretics or water tablets, modurectics, ACE inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers, calcium-channel blockers, beta-blockers.

Some private hospitals in Nigeria today use liquid herbal medicine to cure and manage hypertension; the contents of these herbal medicines are basically fruits, herbs, whole grains, dry peas which are all rich in magnesium, calcium and other elements equivalent to the English drugs.

Being hypertensive definitely isn’t a dead end, the above natural remedies can be used to control it; you can choose any convenient method or can even try as more as possible since there is no side effect to how much one uses them.

Most importantly, do have a regular checking of the blood pressure to determine when it comes to normal at the systolic level that should be below 120mmHg and a diastolic level of 80 or below.
