This is a colourful exposition of the culture of the people of Kano State, during this festive day, men and horses dress in their special attire designed for ceremonies while riding around in respect of the festival.
Durbar festival is usually celebrated at the peak of the two great Muslim festivals Eid al Fitr and Eid al Kabir (Eid al Adha). It is normally filled with the traditional musical instrument and a spectacular traditional bazaar of African music.
Prior to the parade of the Emir and his entourage on horses, prayer is first made to Allah, before accompanying them to the Emir's palace with dancing and music.
This period offers Kano indigenes opportunity to showcase their various culture, the Durbar cultural festival is widely celebrated by Kano citizens annually.
