Rivers State Local Government Areas

Abua-Odual Local Government Area is one of the twenty-three local government council of Rivers state headquartered in the town of Ayama Abua, made up of the districts of Agada, Abua, Akani, Emelego, Emago, Anyu and others.

Ahoada East Local Government Area has its administrative headquarter in the commercial town of Ahoada ( or Ehuda) and formed the district areas of Ahoada, Akoh and Uppata, making up the local government area.

Ahoada West Local Government Area is one of the serving twenty-three local government councils of the state located in Akinima town, consisting of the districts of Ubie, Okarki, Joinkrama, Igbuguya and Ediro.

Akuku Toru Local Government Area is a local government area in the state with headquarters in Abonnema town, having the districts of Abonoma, Abaji, Okolo, Imoama, Leleama, Ibiapuama, Dere-ama, Opukiri, Lelekiri and Angalaobio.

Andoni Local Government Area council headquarter is in the town of Ngo and consists of some districts viz: Obolo, Ngo, Ekede, Ikuru, Asarama, Ataba, Samanga. Unyeada, Unyen and Gola.

Asari-Toru Local Government Area is among the twenty-three serving local councils of Rivers state located in the town of Buguma with the total of 17 communities namely; Angulama, Atuka, Ido, Ifoko, Minama, Okpo and others that make up the area.

Bonny Local Government Area is one of the local area councils and an Island in Rivers state consisting the districts of Rivers Bonny Island as well as villages viz; Adamakiri, Agbala, Akpakpasu, Amanadama, Angalabie, Asaramatoru, Atabakiri, Bartholomy etc

Degema Local Government Area is one among the serving council and is headquarter in the commercial town of Degema consisting of several communities and villages which some of them include Old Bokana, Tombia, Usokun, Bille, Bukuma etc.

Eleme Local Government Area (ELELGA) is a famous local government with its administrative headquarters located in Nchia, consisting of many towns and villages such as Agbeta, Agbnchia, Ebubu, Egalor, Eja, Onne and others.

Emohua Local Government Area is one of the 23 local government areas in Rivers state located in the town of Emuoha with the districts of Egbeda, Ibaa, Obelle and others.

Etche Local Government Area administrative headquarters is in the town of Okehi with primary districts of Etche consisting villages and clans that form the local government area; the major clans are Ozuzu, Igbo, Ulakwo, Mba and Okehi.

Gokana Local Government Area is in the town of Kpor as the administrative headquarters location, consisting the districts of Bodo, Gokana, B-dere, Kpor, Gioko and others.

Ikwerre Local Government Area is sited in the town of Isiokpor and consists of the districts of Aluu, Elele, Igwuruta, Isiokpor, Omogwa, Omademe, Omerelu, Ozuoba, Ubima and Umuanwa.

Khana Local Government Area is one of the serving local governments of the state sited in the town of Bori with the districts of Khana, Baghayagbe, Banchabone, Betem, Bie Gwara, Bori, Deken, Eken,Gbam Boue, Gure, Kagwara, Kani, Kani Babbe and others.

Obio/Akpor Local Government Area is among the recognized LGAs of Rivers state located in the town of Rumuodumaya and houses the districts of Elelenwo, Choba, Oro Igwe, Ozuba, Rupkokwu, Rumueme, Rumuigbo, Rumuokwuta, Rumuodara, Rumuokoro and others.

Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni) is a local council area located in the town of Omoku, consists the districts of Ogba/Egbema and Ndoni with other towns under the major districts viz; Egita-Akabuta, Ekpe -Aggah etc.

Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area has its administrative headquarters in Ogu town, consisting of the districts of Bolo, Ele, Ogu and Wakana; with many other communities such as Adiai-Obiofu, Agwe, Amuajie, Ase-Imonita, Ase-Azaga, Isara and others.

Okrika Local Government Area has its headquarters located in Okrika town with the districts of Kallo, Ogoloma, Okrika and Ogan.

Omuma Local Government Area is the Eberi town as the headquarter consisting of the districts of Oyoro, Ohimogho, Umuogba, Ofeh, Obiohia, Ajuloke, Eberi-Dikeomuoo, Ariraniiri and Owu-Ahia.

Opobo/Nekoro Local Government Area is one among the 23 existing local council areas in Rivers state with the headquarters in Opobo town, consisting the districts of Opobo, Nekoro, Nkoro, Ukonu, Queens Town Kalama, Jaja, Kalaibiama, Diepiri etc.

Oyigbo Local Government Area has its administrative seat in Okoloma Afam, consisting the districts of Obete, Asa, Kankom, Egberu-Ndoki, Oyigba West, Oyigbo Central, Umuagbai and Azogu.

Port-Harcourt Local Government Area is headquartered in the capital city of the state and the seat of the local government council comprises of Amadi, Abuloma, Diobu, Elekahia, Mgbundukwu, Npkolu, Oroworukwo, Ochri, Rumukalagbo district and others.

Tai Local Government Area has the administrative headquaters in Saakpenwa-Ogoni, consisting of the major districts: Ban-Ogoi, Gio, Kporgho, Gbam, Borobara, Nanabie, Karoma, Korokoro, Kpite, Gbeneo and Botem
